1. General Information

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when using the SonaraTales iOS app.

SonaraTales is an audiobook and reading app that provides narrated stories, reading texts, illustrations and offline playback features.

2. Data We Process

Depending on how you use the app, we may process the following data:

• Device and usage data stored locally: app language, local settings, playback position, favorites, playlists and other app preferences.
• Content data stored locally: downloaded or bundled book, text, image and audio content required for offline playback.
• Purchase-related data: for in-app purchases via Apple, we receive transaction-related information required to unlock purchased content. We do not receive full payment details such as credit card numbers.
• Support data: information you provide when contacting us, such as your email address, message content and any technical information you choose to share.
• Voice and audio production data: audiobook content in SonaraTales may be created using text-to-speech technology, synthetic voices, designer voices or an authorized cloned voice. Where a real person's voice is used to create a cloned voice, the required source recordings are processed only for the purpose of creating or improving the audiobook narration and related app content.

3. AI-Generated and Synthetic Audio Content

Some audiobook narrations in SonaraTales may be generated using artificial intelligence or text-to-speech systems. These voices may be synthetic designer voices or authorized cloned voices based on real voice recordings.

Synthetic or AI-generated audio is used to produce audiobook narration and related content. It is not used to identify app users, track users, create user profiles or perform analytics.

If a cloned voice is used, it is used only with appropriate authorization from the relevant voice owner. SonaraTales does not allow users to upload their own voice recordings to create voice clones within the app.

4. In-App Purchases and Payments

In-app purchases are processed by the Apple App Store. Payment processing is handled by Apple. Apple’s privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

We only receive information from Apple that is necessary to verify purchases, restore purchases and unlock purchased audiobook content. We do not receive or store full payment card details.

5. Local Storage, Purchased Content and Offline Use

SonaraTales stores content and settings on your device so content can be used offline. This may include downloaded audio files, book texts, illustrations, playback progress, favorites and playlists.

Purchased audiobooks can be restored and downloaded again on the same or another device using Apple’s purchase restoration functionality, as long as the SonaraTales app, the relevant App Store purchase products and the required content delivery infrastructure remain available.

If SonaraTales is permanently discontinued, removed from the App Store, or if the required content delivery infrastructure is no longer operated, previously purchased audiobooks may no longer be available for restoration or re-download. In such cases, already downloaded audiobooks generally remain available on the device as long as the app and the downloaded files remain installed.

We recommend downloading purchased audiobooks for offline use after purchase. Locally stored app data can generally be removed by deleting the app from your device.

6. Legal Bases (EU/EEA)

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide app features, unlock purchased content or respond to support requests.
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interests, for example app stability, security, content delivery, purchase verification and prevention of misuse.
• Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — consent, where optional features require consent.

Where voice recordings of an identifiable person are used to create a cloned voice, such processing is based on authorization or consent from the relevant voice owner or another applicable legal basis.

7. Recipients and Third Parties

We do not use third-party analytics providers and do not collect analytics data.

We do not share personal data with third parties except where required to operate the app, verify purchases, provide app functionality or comply with legal obligations.

In-app purchases and payment processing are handled by Apple. Apple may process data independently according to Apple’s own privacy policy.

Audiobook content may be produced using external text-to-speech or voice generation tools before being included in the app. These production tools are used for content creation, not for tracking app users or analyzing user behavior.

8. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by law.

• Locally stored app data generally remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
• Purchase-related records may be retained as long as necessary to verify, restore or manage purchases and to comply with legal obligations.
• Support requests are retained only as long as necessary to handle your request and for reasonable follow-up, unless longer retention is required by law.
• Voice recordings used for creating authorized cloned voices are retained only as long as necessary for audio production, quality control, legal documentation or rights management.

9. Children

SonaraTales provides family-friendly audiobook and reading content. The app does not require children to create an account, enter personal information or upload personal content.

We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children for tracking, profiling, analytics or advertising purposes.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has provided personal data unlawfully or without appropriate authorization, please contact us so we can review and delete the relevant data where required.

10. Tracking, Analytics and Advertising

SonaraTales does not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers or behavioral profiling tools. We do not sell personal data.

11. Your Rights

Where applicable, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Rectification of inaccurate personal data (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Erasure of personal data (Art. 17 GDPR)

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example due to legal, technical or feature changes. The latest version published at this URL applies.
